I’ve got Vivoo, how ’bout you?

So my professor gave us all piss tests. No, not pregnancy tests – nor drug tests. Those are too expensive.

No, no… instead he gave us wellness tests!

If you haven’t heard of Vivoo, don’t feel left out. It’s an up and coming startup based in San Fransisco. On Vivoo’s website, the brand is described as “a wellness app that guides users to a healthier lifestyle with personalized nutrition advice based on urine data.” And in my experience, it did just that.

Hi mom look at my pee test!

Let’s just start with the packaging. The colors are vivid, comfortable, and inviting. Open up the plastic packaging and inside is a thin but sturdy paper casing for the actual test detailing the contents. The test itself is in a pouch to decrease risk of decontamination.

Unfortunately, I can’t say I’m an expert on wellness and my body’s overall health – I still text my mom about what to take when I have a cold. However, the results that came back seemed accurate based upon what I eat, drink, and how often I have currently been working out (and that is to say, the lack of).

My energy for the most part has been lacking lately, but I’m still going.
No surprise here, I am super bad about drinking enough water.
To be honest, I feel like my “wellness” is below this score; however, I am a relatively healthy guy despite my bad dietary habits, among other things.

I also liked how Vivoo recommended changes that would help improve my score, such as eating lentil soup to support my immune system with a boost of antioxidants, and even provided a simple recipe for veggie chips!

Yums … if only I had a dehydrator, though.

Vivoo features a blog on its website, which boasts a UI that is most common on websites – the “What is Vivoo” page has an endless scroll feature that I’ve seen on websites such as Apple and Hulu. Eventually you reach the bottom after all the information has been presented to you. Vivoo also has a blog on its website that features recipes, changes you can make in your life to lose weight, to improve your health, etc. It’s a typical wellness blog, nothing too special – it’s expected and does the job.

Vivoo is active on Twitter and Facebook. I was pleased to see that they RT’d some links that my fellow classmates made – Vivoo seems very involved in its customers, which is wonderful to see in a brand. Their other posts consist of giveaways, blog links, and other shout-outs to involved customers.

I wouldn’t say that I give Vivoo my upmost applause on this intriguing and surprisingly fun piss test. I’ve only taken one test and this is the first time I’ve ever done anything like this. I can’t say the results are totally 100% accurate – but I’m curious if I could improve my score if I were to take the tips from the app. For now I am left empty handed.

That being said this was a pretty fun demo. I’ve never pissed on a test before so that was new – and I find the idea of an at-home weekly piss test to gauge your health pretty fascinating. If I were able to afford a subscription I think I would find it an interesting addition to my habits. Will this be the new healthcare revolution? Maybe. Could I see myself buying more in the future? Yes, when my disposable income budget grows far wider. For now I will cherish the time I had with Vivoo and wish it the best of luck in the future!

Hold Up, Boomer: You’re on Instagram?

“Boomer”: my favorite passive aggressive way to refer to Baby Boomers. I was trying to figure out a title that wasn’t as offensive as “Shut up, Boomer,” a common phrase on Twitter. Baby Boomers are pretty interesting to me: they prefer cable, still read the newspaper, and are the dominant target market in infomercials. What interests me about them the most is their social media use.

The research found online was pretty predictable: Boomers don’t have a dominating presence online. However, I did find that 20% of Twitter users are 55+, which was pretty interesting find. Twitter a constant stream of information with a plethora of hashtags; while it supports media such as photo and video, it’s much more text based than other social media such as Facebook, which is the social media site most commonly linked to Baby Boomers.

I think Facebook is a favorite among Baby Boomers because not only does it allow them to connect with friends and family in a way that was never attainable to them before, but it is eye candy full of videos, photos, games, and more. This is a visually stimulating way of advertising product and pretty lucrative for companies who deal with weight loss supplements, political campaigns, life insurance, and other Boomers’ interests.

Maybe it’s about time we give the Boomers their credit for being social media savvy, at least in some social media sites.

I Did a BrandMyself Evaluation and YIKES!

These are the results I got from using BrandYourself.com. To be honest I’m not surprised I got a pretty low score. However, I do question the validity of this website — wouldn’t everyone’s scores be a bit low in hopes to get people to pay to “upgrade” and clean up their reputation online? If this is legitimate then it looks like I have a lot of work to do!

I plan to work on my online footprint throughout this semester. In about 90 days, I will revisit this score and see if the changes I’ve made to my online presence have improved my BrandYourself score.

salut

I’m currently sitting in class at the end of my first day. Its 7:16 PM, I’m in the second row of a computer lab, and the seat is a little uncomfortable. It’s probably because I’m slouched AF … it’s okay, though.

We the students are being instructed to post a blog. I think I had a blog back in middle school during my Harry Potter fanfiction days. That’s when I was also writing a lot; I had just finished writing my first and only manuscript of a fiction novel (that my now-best friend destroyed in a fit of jealousy fueled by a rumor of me having relations with his girlfriend: spoiler alert, he and I fully out gay men now). It feels good to be writing again. I feel rusty at it, I’m not going to lie. Rusty — but the good kind of rusty.

I don’t know if I’m supposed to post it but I’m going to do it anyways. Welcome to the blog!
